About the Game:

I created this game during my HND year for a Game Jam. It’s now part of my portfolio, showing my game development journey from my first year to now. Enjoy!

Leaving Things Behind:

Inspired by classic films like Shawshank Redemption and Escape from Alcatraz, this game tells the story of Joe, a man wrongfully imprisoned for 20 years who devises a plan to escape. As the player, you must guide Joe through the prison, leaving behind everything from his cell to the tools he used. Will he make it past the prison walls? That’s up to you!

Controls:

WASD - Move

Left Mouse Button - Interact with UI

Installation:

Please download version 0.3 or 0.2, as the first build got corrupted.

About Me & the Game Jam:

I’m Silviu, a second-year Games Development student. This was my second time participating in the Game Jam Parade 2021, and although I submitted a few minutes late, it went much smoother than my first attempt.

In this jam, I improved my skills in isometric tile maps, animations, problem-solving with C#, and art creation using Aseprite. Special thanks to my friend Will for the background image—check out his itch.io page here: https://twistdrabbit.itch.io/

What’s happened since I made this project:

In June this year, I graduated from the University of the West of Scotland with a degree in Computer Games Development. Achieving this degree was a long-term dream of mine. Another dream I had was to become a solo game developer, and I’m proud to say that I have. In November 2023, I founded my own studio, Ludus Pax Studios.

My first commercial game is called Rise of the Village Hero! It is a small indie RPG where players take control of the reluctant hero
