Barbarian

About the Project:

Barbarian is an action-adventure platformer where the hero embarks on a quest to rescue his abducted wife. Players explore six levels filled with puzzles, platforming, and close-range combat.

How the Project Came About:

This game was developed as a group project during my 3rd year at university, where I worked alongside three colleagues for a module.

My Contribution:

As team leader, I managed deadlines and ensured the project stayed true to our game design document. I worked on key programming tasks like mini-maps, AI, and player controller functionality. I also designed a level, created cinematic cutscenes using Unity Timeline, and contributed to UI design.

What’s happened since I made this project:

In June this year, I graduated from the University of the West of Scotland with a degree in Computer Games Development. Achieving this degree was a long-term dream of mine. Another dream I had was to become a solo game developer, and I’m proud to say that I have. In November 2023, I founded my own studio, Ludus Pax Studios.

My first commercial game is called Rise of the Village Hero! It is a small indie RPG where players take control of the reluctant hero
